Moving Your Commercial Work Space? What To Know
Posted on: 28 June 2016
Are you getting ready to move your commercial property from one location to another, but you worry about moving all of your inventory properly? If so, you'll want to make sure that it's stored and moved correctly. Preserving your items before the move and packaging the items in containers stronger than the cardboard boxes a moving company provides is best. There are other things to consider using during the move.
Commercial Storage Bins
Purchase commercial storage bins, such as from http://www.garlandsinc.com, that are composed of thick plastic and that have an airtight seal. See through bins make it easy to see what you're moving or packing, but color coding the different types of inventory and materials can also be helpful. These bins aren't going to crack and break because of weight or being moved around during the move, and they'll protect the items inside. These are easy to stack and you can use them for storage needs after the move. These bulk bins can last for years and are easy to clean out.
You can also get bins that have dividers and separate areas to sort things like office desk supplies or dry supplies, or that can be used to store multiple smaller storage bins inside.
Vacuumed Sealed Bags
If you have items that you want to be preserved and that you worry may get dirty or shuffled around, vacuumed sealed bags are great for protection. You can even use these suctioned bags to pull the air out of materials and to conserve space during the move. This method can also be used to store items for long periods of time when you don't want air or water to get to the items. If you are moving any type of food or beverages, you may want to consider sealing before transporting so the packages don't get opened or the seals broken.
Not only do you want to make sure that all of the items are stored properly to prevent items from getting damaged, but you want to make sure that the moving company you hire has moving insurance. If you aren't using a professional moving company, call your business insurance provider to see if all the items are going to be covered during the transport, or if you'll need to get extra insurance for this. You don't want an auto accident or collision to end up destroying your office supplies, furniture and inventory along with a company vehicle.
